During a great NCAA basketball game the TV announcer said, “They are playing OLD SCHOOL Basketball. They shoot, rebound, pass and play basketball old school.”
Professional and college coaches look for players who are grounded in the fundamentals of the game. Today’s athletes run and jump better than ever, but far too often the basketball skills are lacking. Crowell’s Old School Basketball Camp will give you skills that you will need as you climb the basketball success ladder.
Crowell’s Old School Camp will focus first on the mental side of basketball. Winning begins in the mind. Make the mind the master and the body follows. Confidence, never-quit attitude, and playing with controlled aggressiveness are skills...these are learned behaviors. We can teach you to make the mental part of the game your strength, not your weakness.
Crowell Old School basketball will teach you skills to score. The lost shot in basketball is the hook shot. Players now shoot the bent arm hook. Old School hook is totally different, it gives you amazing skills to score with your back to the basket. If you master this shot you become 18 inches taller on your shot. We also spend time on the mid-range jumper. A number of players focus too much on the 3 or are only effective on the drive. Having an effective mid-range shot can separate you as a true offensive threat.
Competition will be a major focus of this camp. Teams will be drafted daily so players learn to adjust to playing for different coaches and different styles. Athletes will compete for positions daily to help make them better. It’s a great training ground for those who will be trying out and/or competing for spots on teams or starting positions and playing time this fall or summer.
Do not miss this one-of-a-kind NBC Camp. Join us June 14-18 at Upper Columbia Academy in Spangle, WA, just 15 minutes south of downtown Spokane. Fred Crowell will be assisting John Fazio, one of our great NBC Camp Directors, and will be serving as the Head Master Teacher.

What is the difference between overnight and extended day?
In an effort to help parents with the costs of camp, we have provided an extended day. Overnight camps are our tradition camp with campers arriving for check in at 12 the first day and remain the entire 5 days leaving after the awards program around 4 on the last day of camp. Extended day campers would check in at 12 the first day and be picked up each evening at 9 pm and return each morning at 8:30am. Lunch and dinner are provided for extended day campers.
