Position Specific Camps

These camps differ from our intermediate/advanced basketball camps in that athletes are divided into specific positions: points, wings and posts. This training is much more detailed for each specific position. Athletes select one position for the week to study. Posts, wings, and point guards then combine in the afternoon for competitive tournaments and games.

Post players learn the following team skills:

  • How to get open and set screens.
  • How to score facing and with back to basket.
  • How to play post defense.
  • How to rebound and play with aggressiveness.
  • How to execute the six most important post offensive and defensive skills.
  • How to implement new skills in game setting

Point Guards learn the following team skills

  • Court leadership
  • Defensive pressure
  • Attacking the basket
  • Ball handling under pressure
  • Transition
  • Precision passing
  • When and where to shoot

Wings learn the following team skills

  • Getting open
  • Using and creating screens
  • Defending the perimeter
  • Three point accuracy
  • Attacking the basket
  • Transition offense and defense

Should I attend Positions camp?
We recommend attending our positions camp if you need specific in-depth training at a specific position. This camp would not be beneficial for a player who has played for less than three years. The intermediate/advanced basketball camps will cover many aspects of position play necessary for the point, wing and post position. Position camps differ from our basketball camps in that the instruction is much more specific, and requires solid knowledge of the game.

We recommended attending a position camp in conjunction with our intermediate/advanced camps. We also recommend attending a position camp each summer but attending a different position. Many players who play at the college level need to know multiple positions. It is important for the advanced athlete to have insight and understanding from each position.

What is the difference between overnight and extended day?
In an effort to help parents with the costs of camp, we have provided an extended day. Overnight camps are our tradition camp with campers arriving for check in at 12 the first day and remain the entire 5 days leaving after the awards program around 4 on the last day of camp. Extended day campers would check in at 12 the first day and be picked up each evening at 9 pm and return each morning at 8:30am. Lunch and dinner are provided for extended day campers.
