CHANGE YOUR WORLD

OVERCOMING FAILURE

Failure is the leading cause of why we do not pursue that which we dedicated ourselves to.  Understanding why people fail will help us to reduce our risk of failure and maximize our chances for success.  There are four characteristics of a person who know how to overcome failure.

1. Never anticipate of failure.

This seems hard to believe, but many people actually believe they will fail.  They have a negative outlook on life.  They quite honestly are not surprised when something goes wrong. People who overcome failure believe they will succeed, they speak with confidence, optimism and hope. Be prepared, work hard, plan well, seek great advice and believe.

2. Take responsibility.

Those who fail blame others.  It is always someone else’s fault.  You may be familiar with this well-known anecdote:

WHOSE JOB IS IT?

This is a story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody.  There was an important job to be done and Everybody was asked to do it.  Everybody was sure Somebody would do it.  Anybody could have done it but Nobody did it.  Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody’s job.  Everybody though Anybody could do it but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn’t do it.  It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Overcoming failure involves the importance of being able to admit when we make mistakes. If we can't take responsibility we cannot grown and change and therefore are destined to failure.

3. Never surrendering to fear.

When you were born, you had only two fears:

    1. the fear of falling and
    2. the fear of loud noises.

This means that all other fears are learned.  Who or what are you allowing to influence you in such a way that fears are being developed?  Fear destroys motivation and cripples enthusiasm. Eliminate fearful conversations, gossip, cynicism, and fearful thinking. Instead, put your trust in God and work to become a person who speaks, acts and thinks bravely.

4. Set goals and find a mentor.

Only 3% of the people in our society have written goals for their lives.

If you have tried to do something and failed, you are vastly better off than if you had tried to do nothing and succeeded.

In order for us to experience the thrill of conquering our limitations, there must be the willingness to change.

The more you have tried something and failed, the more you need quality, outside help. Outside help means mentors, teachers, programs, or camps, you can commit to inorder to help you change.
