About the campus
Bound on three sides by a residential area, the Newberg campus of George
Fox University borders Hess Creek. George Fox University campers will
be staying in beautiful residential dorms. Each room accommodates two
campers, with nearby private shower facilities. These rooms are not air-conditioned
and we suggest you bring a fan. You
do not need to request a roommate before camp begins. When you sign up
for a room, have your preferred roommate with you. If you have no preference,
we will match you with someone of the same gender and similar age. The cafeteria facility provides an all-you-can-eat salad bar with fresh
fruit, hot entrees with beverage, sandwich and cereal stations. GFU's
large gym features three full courts. Campers will alternate using offsite
gyms to provide maximum space for games and training.
George Fox does have a pool available to the campers. It is a park & recreation public pool that is next door to the campus. They will only use this pool as a group and have sufficient supervision.
About the Staff
We select outstanding
people we believe are of high integrity and character, work ethic and
willingness to pour their lives into helping athletes be their best. We
work hard to hire college players, college and high school coaches and
dynamic competent teachers of the game. All our coaches are hand selected, receive a criminal background check, and are evaluated by the campers and leadership staff. Our basketball curriculum is organized to the minute each day with detailed training manuals and DVDs for our Master Teacher coaches.

SCOTT RUECK
Basketball Head Coach - Congratulations on wininng the NCAA Division 3 Championship.

Scott Rueck, in his fourth year as Site Director at George Fox, has 20 years of basketball coaching experience. In his 13 years as head coach, Scott has established the George Fox University women’s basketball program as one of the finest in the nation at the small-college level. In that time, he has guided the Bruins to a 245-85 record, seven post-season playoff appearances, and regular recognition in national top 25 polls. Scott has been named NWC Coach of the Year five times and has posted winning records in each of his 13 years as head coach.
In addition to his coaching duties, Scott teaches courses in the department of health and human performance at George Fox, and is in his ninth year directing the Bruin Basketball Academy. Scott earned his bachelor's degree in exercise and sports science in 1991 and a Master of Arts degree in physical education teaching in 1992. He earned both of these degrees from Oregon State University. Scott and his wife, Kerry, reside in Newberg. The Ruecks have one son, Cole, age 5, and one daughter, Kate, age 2.
