Ideas to Ignite your Life

Ignite greatness

Key ways to ignite your life on and off the court at NBC Camps

Here is an important question to ask yourself – how do I want to live? Most people tend to think in terms of comfort—houses, cars, clothes, jobs, possessions.

Take a minute to set aside anything external and ask, how do you want to live from a perspective of the heart?

What kind of qualities would you like to define your life?

The big six at NBC Camps are delight, gratitude, service, courage, creativity and listening. We reflect often on these words to remind us on how we want to live. Ignite means to spark and in order to live the way we aspire, we need to have daily ways to ignite our passion to live this way. In this newsletter will be some ideas and ways for you to focus on how you want to live and how you can ignite passion for living this way on a daily basis.

Ideas to Ignite Your Life

Clearly define how you want to live. Do you want to squabble with your siblings or do you want to have a deep friendship with your brothers/sisters? Most people haven’t really decided ahead of time how they want to live so their emotions dictate their relationships rather than their goals.

Here are some key ways to Ignite your Life

1. Words inspire change. Take a look at a problem area in your life and see what kind of words you say about this problem area. If you are negative in your mind and with your mouth, your world will create this negativity. You have to change your world by changing what you think and what you say.

2. Daily reminders can ignite us into action. A stone with the word peace engraved on it can trigger a reminder to live with less stress. A picture of Rwandan woman who forgave her children’s murderer can inspire us to be more forgiving. Place photos, words, messages, videos, books, music, in positions that cause you to pause and reflect. These small pauses can ignite a renewed determination on how you want to live.

3. Change your routine. Doing things the same way over and over again can lead to a dead life. Discipline yourself to break out of your routines. This commitment to being flexible can help ignite new ways of viewing the world and bring ideas together that previously were overlooked.

4. Energy is health. Take a look at an area of your life that has no energy and no fire. Take a look at an area of your life that is alive, on fire and burning with desire and drive. What can you learn from this and how can you apply your drive in the healthy area to the dead area?

5. Write out how you want to live. Here is a good exercise for you:

  • List 5 qualities you want to define your life.
  • Write down two people you need to forgive and commit to total freedom from resentment.
  • Write down one person you need to ask forgiveness of and commit to a bitter free relationship.
  • Write down daily habits you want to define your life.
  • Write down your mission statement that you can say in 10 seconds or less.
  • Write down your key values and how you live out these values daily.

6. Be grateful. Pause a few times during the day to thank God for something you see in nature, or something you experience that is beautiful and meaningful or even for something that is difficult and challenging.

7. Remember you and everyone around you are a miracle and live this way. Treat every person you meet as a miracle person. Ignite joy in your life and work to ignite joy in others.
