How do you coach or teach perseverance?
Coaching at any professional level is challenging. It requires your full heart and investment, and it requires you to have the ability to turn off the game and discipline your mind to be fully present. As with any true aspects of life, it requires wisdom and intention—knowing when to be fully devoted and when to take a break, when to dig deep and when to let go.
Competitive people often have strong perseverance. As a coach, its tough to coach kids that have low perseverance especially when yours is high.
How do you coach perseverance?

Thankfully there are many free tests that can provide insight into how to motivate and educate students from different personalities and temperaments. One of the best tools is the enneagram. There are many free tests for this personality profile that will help uncover more the best ways to coach and motivate these individuals.
Perseverance is a learned quality. You can improve it by providing drills and workouts that increase perseverance steadily. One of the biggest ways to advance perseverance is to have leaders who persevere. Weak leaders will mean a long season.
Find the carrot. Find what lights a fire. Learn all you can about the personality and motivational proclivities of your students. Persevere teaching perseverance.
