About Amanda
Amanda Phelps has had an impressive coaching career, marked by significant achievements that have shaped her as a strong leader in the volleyball community. After wrapping up her first season as the Fire women's volleyball coach, Phelps and her team finished second in the Sun Conference—a promising start to her tenure.
Before coming to Lakeland, Phelps had a highly successful run as the head coach at Lake-Sumter State College in Leesburg. During her time there, she was twice named Region Coach of the Year and led the team to its first two national tournament appearances in the program's history. Under her leadership, the Lakehawks had a remarkable 2021 season, finishing with a 25-8 record and setting a program record for wins in a season, capped by a Gulf District Tournament title.
Her coaching experience extends beyond collegiate athletics. Phelps was instrumental in starting the volleyball program at Lake Minneola High School, where she led the team to two district titles over six years. She also has experience working with Top Select Volleyball Academy and Tsunami Volleyball Club, along with stints as a graduate assistant and assistant coach at the University of West Georgia.
As she continues her journey with the Fire, Phelps brings both a passion for the game and a proven track record of success, which has already earned her confidence from her peers and the program’s leadership. The Fire family seems to have gained an excellent addition in both Amanda and her husband.
