Welcome to Camps
Welcome to Varsity Academy, a division of NBC Camps.
Varsity Academy offers basketball training programs in Fife, Washington to help you improve their game throughout the year. Varsity Academy will be divided into age/ability courts when possible. NBC Varsity Academy has the primary goal of helping players step on the court physically and mentally ready for every day of practice. Varsity Academy Division 1 is for high school athletes wanting to elevate their game with a focus on live-action competition. For athletes ages 9-13, VA D2 training is based on age and ability level. This basketball training reinforces the fundamental skills critical for success and lays the foundation for future growth and improvement. Athletes are divided into groups based on age and skill levels.
All athletes are expected to provide their own basketball, water bottle, indoor shoes, and hoop clothing.

What to expect
Varsity Academy South Sound is excited to tip off the Fall Session on October 5.

Varsity Academy Fall Session - Oct. 5 - Nov. 2, 2025
Gender and Ages:
Division 1 - Boys and Girls 13-18
Division 2 - Boys and Girls 9-12
Dates: October 5, 12, 19, 26 and November 2, 2025
Times: Sundays 5:30-7:30pm
VARSITY ACADEMY D1 HIGH SCHOOL
VA D1 is designed for high school athletes. This program is set up to challenge advanced players and will teach skills appropriate for the high school player. Intensity and competition will be high priorities. Division 2 players will be considered at the discretion of the VA staff. This program is designed for the older and more skilled high school age players. Teaching takes place primarily through live, competitive games and structured, organized play.
VARSITY ACADEMY D2
Designed for ages 9-12, we divide athletes into training stations and groups based on skill level and ability. It is worth the investment to learn basketball skills correctly during the formative years. We take pride in making sure athletes can execute skills correctly. Each athlete is important to us and we want to help you reach your basketball and life dreams and goals.

Who is Varsity Academy - South Sound Basketball Training for?
This camp is for athletes ages 9 to 17, coed. All skill levels welcome. Campers may be grouped by age, skill, or experience.
How do I register for Varsity Academy - South Sound Basketball Training?

What should I bring to VA?
- Completed medical release waiver if not completed online ahead of check-in
- A basketball labeled with your name
- Appropriate basketball shoes/attire
- Water bottle or sports drink
Come to each gym time with a great attitude, ready to be coachable, respectful, and willing to contribute to our environment of positive enthusiasm. You may arrive 15-20 minutes prior to the first gym time to check-in.
What if I need to miss a gym time?
Feel free to notify the director if you will be missing a gym time, however it is not necessary.

Camp Director Chris Koebelin
Chris Koebelin has been directing NBC Day Camps for nearly 10 years. Having coached basketball for more than 30 years, Coach Chris believes in the power of energy, passion and character building. Currently Koebelin is the Head Coach for the Klahowya Secondary Girls High School Basketball program. He is the winningest coach in Klahowya Secondary school history having reached the District playoffs in 4 out of his 6 years with 1 League Championship and having helped 2 of his student athletes reach their dream of playing college basketball.

Coach Justin Chapel
Justin has over 15 years of coaching experience. He played college basketball at San Diego Mesa College and Simpson University. After college, he found success at the semi-pro level in the ABA, IBL, and NABL for over 8 years. He has served as a head coach including AAU and high school level, and has experience as a collegiate assistant coach. In addition, Justin has spent over a decade in education and currently works as a Dean of Students. He began his involvement with NBC Camps as a student-athlete at Simpson University in 2010.
